Perception Through the Flesh

the scars upon my flesh form constellations.

constellations intertwined,

an array of bold hues and dull tones.

the influence of conventional kalopsia permanents through our souls-

keeping us divided.

i am made of the same elements as lionesses,

my DNA translates the same twenty amino acids that wolf genes code for,

the air i breathe in fuels forests fire-

capable of destroying everything they touch.

three quarters of my being is the water

that beats rocks to rubble,

and wears stones away.

the trees greet me with excited hellos,

the bugs kiss my legs gently.

i honor silhouettes and distant memories.

the chamber of my lungs shield my heart.

my love is not wavered.

feel. feel. feel.

allow your emotions to run like a river,

ever flowing,

yet poised and content.

my body is more than a temple.

my body is the very thing that keeps the universe warm.

i am overflowing with empathy and gratitude.

sincerely,

Xiann Fitzpatrick
